There are many species of mice within the UK, the main culprits for infestation to homes and businesses are field mice and the house mouse (Mus musculus). Just like the rat, these small rodents are experts at survival and although many customers are relieved that they only have mice; they can be very disruptive and cause lots of damage. With a body length of 10cm, long slender tail, and pointy ears, they can be easily identified. However, it is worth noting that juvenile rats are very often confused with mice.
Taunton and the surrounding areas host very high levels of mice, which provide food for many of our native species and birds of prey, not to mention the cats!As previously mentioned with rats, mice will chew and gnaw in order to keep their teeth filed down. Once inside a property they are extremely noisy tenants and will often keep customers up at all hours of the night. Urine and droppings; which can be up to 80 per day can obviously cause major hygienic issues. The mouse really excels in its ability to gain access to almost any premises. This is because they are fantastic climbers and can fit through extremely tight holes (6mm). Eating 3g-5g per day and not having to drink if there is moisture in food, these animals are highly adaptable.
Our Taunton technicians use multiple ways of conducting mice control and have a wide range of aids to track and locate movement/ingress points.
The photo above shows the sheer amount of mice droppings that can accumulate after an infestation has begun.
