Cockroaches

Cockroaches are some of the oldest and most primal species on the planet; with early ancestors dating back 320 million years. There are over 20,000 species of cockroach worldwide, here in Britain it’s two of those species that you will encounter. Oriental cockroach ( Blatta orientalis ) and the German cockroach (Blattella germanica). These are wide spread and have a strong foothold throughout Britain. whilst the German cockroach can grow up to 1.6 cm long, the oriental cockroach can reach almost 3 cm, both these species are known for their hardiness and robustness. Signs to look out for are small specks (faeces) around the home that look a lot like black pepper. Another great indication of cockroaches is finding shed cockroach exoskeletons and egg cases in dark concealed locations throughout your property. These are especially noticeable near food sources and under kitchen kick boards.

At KO Pest Control our Taunton technicians have an arsenal of sprays and gels to manage your cockroach infestation quickly and efficiently. We also conduct a thorough inspection to see what the cause of the infestation may be.

The above image shows an oriental cockroach which we removed from a clients kitchen. this is the largest cockroach in Britain and is a lot darker in colour than our other common cockroach (Germanic cockroach).
